Parental Involvement

Parental contributions through fundraising and board or committee participation are mandatory and vital to the operation and success of the Playschool. Without involvement and commitment from parents, we would not be able to function either efficiently or legally. Parents will also be requested to volunteer for a number of committees at the general fall meeting. Examples of these committees include special events, scrapbooking,  recycling and other projects as determined by the teacher and executive committee. You will also be given the opportunity to volunteer for fieldtrips and other events throughout the year. Finally, all parents are required to participate in two toy wash sessions to maintain the health and safety of our toys and equipment.

The Playschool and Executive are fully aware of the challenges many families are faced with in meeting certain family and career obligations. However, when you register your child in playschool, there are commitments and obligations that all parents must fulfill. Every effort is made to advise you of these obligations well in advance so that schedules can be accommodated or altered. It is a licensing requirement that we ensure the proper adult to child ratio. In the case of a teacher's absence a ‘relief parent’ may be contacted to assist with class. If no relief parents are available, class will be cancelled.

Further information regarding the specific requirements of fundraising opportunities, volunteer committees and toy wash will be provided in the parent handbook.
